On June 22, 2016 the Town of Pearisburg Town Council adopted and enacted a Cigarette Tax Ordinance. The Cigarette Tax will apply to all cigarette sales, whether filtered or unfiltered, with or without a mouthpiece, and will be affixed to every package, box, can or other container of any cigarettes, by your dealer, prior to any sales transaction.
The decals will be available for purchase by your dealer, after July 20, 2016, at the Pearisburg Town Office. The cost of the decal is $0.25 each and they are sold only in rolls of 15,000 at a cost of $3,750.00 per roll.
Any shipments received after July 31, 2016 must have a Atop tax stamp affixed to each pack by the distributor.
As of September 1, 2016 town personnel will begin monitoring to verify that the floor cigarette stock inventory has been sold or removed from the business and all current inventories have the Town of Pearisburg (TOP) Tax Paid Cigarette Stamp affixed to each pack.
